(M.Sc) works as a Development Manager at Kreate, one of the leading infrastructure builders in Finland. Aki leads BIM development at Kreate and works on demanding bridge construction and repair projects. Aki was in charge of Kreate’s BIM work on the Grandfather’s Bridge project, which won the Tekla Global BIM Awards 2015, awarded by Trimble and the Bridge of the Year 2017 awarded by RIL – Finnish Association of Civil Engineers.
City of Tampere, Tramway Programme
Antti has been working for the last two years in the Tampere Tramway project, being responsible for project co-ordination especially from a communication and interaction point of view. Interests regarding BIM lie in the possibilities it enables, not the details. He is definitely more of a generalist than a specialist and is here to learn.
Since 2012 Benno is involved in the adoption of open BIM standards at the dutch national road authority, Rijkswaterstaat. He is responsible for the international activities in the Rijkswaterstaat BIM implementation Program. He has launched a number of international activities regarding the development and adoption of open standards. He has initiated and managed the European project V-Con, setup the taskgroup “standardization of information” within CEDR (network of directors of national roads in Europe) and launched CEDR call for proposals “assetmanagement and BIM”. His presentation will introduce the results from these activities.
Works in a BIM business and development unit in Ramboll Finland. Heikki leads BIM development in structural engineering division where over 350 designers use BIM tools every day. Heikki and his team develops new tools, gives support and takes care of created environments for BIM software. He also attends marketing and developing services offered by his unit and works as BIM coordinator in Tampere Deck and Arena -project.

Heikki Lehkonen is working as a development engineer at Skanska Infra Oy and is responsible for BIM development and support. He has previous work history as a site manager, survey engineer and estimating engineer for several years.
Henry Westlin M.Sc. (Civ.Eng.) works as the City Engineer of the City of Vantaa, the 4th largest city in Finland which is growing rapidly. He manages the Public Utilities Services Center, which is responsible of design, construction and maintenance of streets and parks. He has over 30 years experience in various infrastructural areas.
Ilkka Tieaho (M.Sc.) works in Sitowise as a development manager. Ilkka’s responsibilities, at present and over the past ten years, in projects has focused on the digital design and construction processes and the implementation of BIM-workflow. In addition, Ilkka is working as head of Sitowise’s BIM education and development programme. Ilkka also is a member of buildingSMART Finland and acts actively to develop present practices of building industry in bsF-workgroups and in on-going projects.
Jakub Wachocki leads the Digital Strategies Advisory programmes at Bentley Systems and is the Co-founder Executive of the Process Innovation Forum. He is a lean business transformation activist acting on a global arena within a wide variety of major infrastructure projects, based in London, UK.
Jarkko works as a Product Manager and senior consultant for Viasys VDC Oy which is a Topcon Positioning Group company specialized in InfraBIM and life cycle information management IT-solutions. Jarkko’s team makes products and innovations that increase customer’s productivity and quality by applying advanced technologies like VDC, VR, AR, mass data collection, construction automation, simulation and game technology in areas of urban development and construction.

Jarmo Suomisto is the manager of Helsinki 3D+ and responsible of creating, maintaining and delivering virtual models over the whole city. 3D+ also integrates new technology and workflows to processes and city services. 3D+ is 2016 Be Inspired Award Winner and currently focus of the production is on Helsinki Energy-Atlas, Masterplan on City Information Model and Smart Kalasatama Digital Twin.
M.Sc. (Civ.Eng) works as a leading BIM advisor in Sitowise. He has 30 years’ experience in infrastructure projects from different areas: design, software development, information management and modelling. He has been involved in most phases of the Finnish Inframodel development projects since 2001. In the InfraFINBIM-project he successfully lead the workpackage ‘Standardization and Interfaces’ results InfraBIM-classification and Inframodel3 definition. Since 2014 he has acted as the chair of the Infrastructure work group in buildingSMART Finland. In Sitowise he is developing the BIM based planning processes and works as BIM advisor in some key projects.
Juha Salmelin, Lead Architect, SoC Systems, Nokia, Espoo. Juha began work at Nokia in 1988 and he has held a range of posts in R&D at Nokia, Nokia Siemens Networks, Nokia Solutions and Networks and Nokia Bell Labs. He began as ASIC designer of Microwave radios and continued with managing many different projects in transport product R&D. He has been team leader, department manager and Head of Technology roles in mobile products R&D including mobile e2e-solutions. He is currently heading a Nokia Bell Labs driven LuxTurrim5G consortium funded by Tekes, where 12 companies are creating future light pole integrated 5G solutions.
Juho is working as division director and project manager in transport and infrastructure projects in Sweco Finland. Last several years he has been working on multidiscipline infrastructure design projects in urban areas. In delivering projects he has promoted and developed BIM based working methods in design and construction.
Kyösti has been working at the Pöyry for over 10 years first in street and area engineering and then in highway projects mainly. Last years Kyösti has spent mostly in Project Alliances first in Highway 6 TaaLa-project and currently in Highway 12 Lahti southern ring road Valtari-project, where he is working as a BIM-coordinator and an assistant design manager.

Marion Schenkwein, Development Manager and BIM enthusiastic at VR Track Oy, has worked with BIM in infrastructure since 2007. My name is Mikael Malmkvist and I work as an Innovation Development Manager at the Swedish Transport Administration. My responsibility within the organisation is to enable the use of open standards both within my organisation as well as for the exchange requirements with other parties.
Mr Mikko Leppänen works as a Technical Director in Ramboll Finland. Ramboll has over 600 transport and infra specialist in Finland and over 2500 persons worldwide. Mikko has been working in multidiscipline infrastructure design projects both in Finland and abroad. He has been also actively taking part in the branch development as a member in several associations and committees.
Niklas Nevalainen is a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Aalto University’s School of Engineering.
Niklas works as a Project Manager at Southeast Finland’s Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centre). ELY Centers are responsible for the regional implementation and development tasks of the central government. Niklas’ main task is ordering and management of pavement and road marking maintenance project’s at Southern Finland region.
Mr. Pekka Petäjäniemi works as a Director for Major Infrastructure Projects Implementation Department in Finnish Transport Agency. The Annual budget for over 30 major projects has been around 700 Million euros and there are 26 project managers to take care of the projects. Major projects include roads, railways and fairways.
Peter has been working at Trafikverket since 2014 as a senior BIM advisor and data coordinator. He has had varied tasks that cover regulations and requirements documents, support the work on the introduction of BIM at the Swedish Transport Administration, international and national standardization, support function manager with business issues, participate in development of internal systems for asset information management, initiate digitalization related development projects, handle R&D projects, etc.
BIM Specialist, Novatron Oy
Petteri Palviainen is working as a BIM Specialist at Novaton Oy and he is a founder of InfraBIM Open. Previously he worked as a surveyor in construction sites over 20 years. Petteri was a consultant at InfraFINBIM-project (2010-2014) and currently is an active member of buildingSMART Finland, which objective is to increase the implementation of BIM-workflow in infra building industry. At present Petteri works on sites in Finland and also worldwide and instructs the best practices of InfraBIM workflow aiming to boost the deployment of the guidelines and requirements.

Sunil Suwal is an architect with Master of Science in Construction and Real Estate Management. Sunil works as a lecturer for BIM courses at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Department of Real Estate and Building which provides strong continuing BIM education activities in close collaboration with the industry. During the last 3 years, over 350 BIM experts with different focus have been trained. Sunil is a member of buildingSmart Finland’s education group and is a doctoral candidate at Aalto University with the research focus on BIM education and implementation.
Tarmo Savolainen is the Chair of buildingSMART Nordic. He is working as a development manager of InfraBIM in the Finnish Transport Agency responsible for BIM implementation in FTA. Before FTA he has worked fifteen years in the private consultant companies concentrating on Infrastructure Cost Management, InfraBIM and Infra Asset Management. Tarmo has a huge interest for more effective life cycle process of infrastructure and open BIM standards as a part of the fluent information flow.

Tero has been working different Infra/building construction sites from year 2001 as a Land Surveyor, Supervisor etc. At present Tero works on Helsinki-Vantaa Airport expansion project as a Land Surveying chief, few responsibility areas on project is focusing on to GNSS based production maintenance, production InfraBIM models, quality control and digital handover. Tero is part of InfraBIM developing group at Destia Ltd. and different workgroups in Finland for InfraBIM industry.
Tiina Perttula works as an infraBIM director in Ramboll Finland. She is also a member of buildingSMART International Infraroom steering committee and an active member of buildingSMART Finland. Key driver is to do things smarter and better with high quality. Digitalization of construction industry is very much in her interest and open standards play big role on that.
Tone Kristiansen has more than 15 years of experience within transport industry and has earned extensive experience with emphasis on communicating solution, impact on the local environment and to increase interdisciplinary understanding and collaboration. She has a good understanding of practical approach to problem solving. Tone has also gained valuable experience in implementing new working methods to improve the efficiency in engineering, increase understanding of projects’ impact and illuminate interdisciplinary dependencies between disciplines.
Verneri Lehtovirta is currently working on construction management and as a BIM expert at Sweco. Since 2014 he has been involved in Helsinki Airport expansion project where one area of his responsibilities has been stakeholder participation and directing BIM-based design and construction process. Virtualsafaris which are guided by Verneri, takes employees and other stakeholders deep into the design process.
Ville Alajoki is currently leading the Crown Bridges light rail project. He has been developing the implementation of BIM in the Helsinki infra sector for the last 10 years. He has been leading multiple BIM based projects, including the Grandfather’s bridge, which received the Tekla Global BIM award in 2015. He is an expert member of the board of buildingSMART Finland and a member of the board of infrastructure working group in buildingSMART Finland.
